What's Your Life Worth?
Until Sue McCarthy asked me that question I hadn't realised how little I had valued my life and how close I'd been to ending it....
How did this happen to me?....Easy.... a little at a time...over a long time. Sue gave me a wake up call and KIHR was the place where I experienced a second chance at life.
A car accident rudely interrupted my life at age 27. The result of which meant I had to learn to walk again and re-train my body and brain to do things I had previously taken for granted. Doctors told me I may not walk or run again and if so I would probably limp for the rest of my life. The bottom line was that I had badly hurt myself and doctors told me I just had to get on with it!.. so I got on with it! I followed an endless path of physic, rehab therapy and medication prescribed for my rehabilitation - a long and painful process with many steps forward and even more backwards.
I returned to work after 6 months (foolishly) to a busy and stressful job and pushed myself to be "normal". My work load increased whilst I attempted to manage my illness and "disabilities" outside of working hours. My days started and ended in pain, If I was lucky I survived on 3 to 4 hours sleep a night unless I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. "They" (doctors) experimented with a daily cocktail of drugs to help ease the pain and give me a window through which I might experience some relief...It left me dopey and disorientated and still in pain. Days blurred into weeks and months...I was mentally, emotionally and physically a mess - pushed to the limit from constant migraines; chronic pain; lack of sleep; and severe depression. Several years later I had a complete physical and mental breakdown (..I wonder why?)
Crunch time....October 2002 At my lowest point I realised that if I didn't get some help I wouldn't live past Christmas. Up until the accident I had lived a fairly healthy life, rarely touching medication - preferring natural alternatives. I played a lot of sport competitively and ran 10kms a day. I meditated, set goals and achieved them, rarely drank and didn't smoke. I couldn't continue on the path Doctors prescribed...I needed serious help...and I needed it now.
Thank god - Sue answered the phone when I called...she had one space left and I couldn't pack my bags quick enough. I went off ALL my medication there and then - cold turkey!! Just listening to Sue's voice set me at ease - no matter what lay ahead I knew she would be with me every step of the way...and she was.
From the trip on the Bus to the Ferry crossing to the warm welcome from Sue & Austin - the KIHR experience was magical. My home away from home for the next week was idealic.
The daily routine was explained to us all and off to bed I went. Peace and quiet - what bliss!! No phones...no distractions. I awoke with the sun and birds chirping and began the process of detoxing with a beach walk and swim. The walk back up the hill was nearly my undoing - but Sue stayed with me every step of the way reminding me to breathe and drink my water and to pace myself - just one small step at a time... I did my best to get through every activity with encouragement from Sue. It got easier as the week progressed. With a beautiful, clean environment, great food , yummy fresh juices and a warm bed. Sue and Austin have created the perfect sanctuary for the body, mind, and spirit to rest, repair and rebuild. I didn't want to go home.
Sue's years of knowledge and experience, combined with her sense of humour and her genuine interest in helping people lead healthier lives is truly inspiring. She exudes good health, vitality and flexibility. Her no-nonsense, down-to-earth approach is refreshing - she definitely walks her talk!
Sue has taught me a better way to live that makes sense.... a way that works. I highly recommend KIHR to anyone whom good health and quality of life is important.
Sue saved my life...she can help you improve yours...So tell me...what's your life worth?
The Water Fast... Oooh yuk... How could you? You may well ask...
It's not as bad as you think - 10 bottles of pure fresh KI rain water per day need to be drunk to clean out your system. Water is an easier and quicker way to detox - your body has even less work to do so it can concentrate on getting the pollutants out of your system. I experienced minimal discomfort whilst releaseing toxins. In the beginning there was a slight dose of diarrhea along with hot and cold flushes and some nausea. These temporary bodily experiences are a small price to pay for clear eyes and skin, fresh breath, high energy and inner peace and strength and greater flexibility at the end of the week. Detoxing left me with a spring in my step and a huge smile on my face - ready to take on the world with more information and resources to continue with a healthier lifestyle. Try it yourself.... what have you got to loose?
PS After completing the water fast I lost 10 kilos and 54cm overall toning loss.
And now....
I recently went running for the first time in 15 years since the accident I feel great. Thanks Sue for your help and encouragement. Life is brilliant.
Kim
P.S. I'd ring her NOW!!!
