Steps to Great Health at KIHR
OXYGEN is our best friend. In fact without it we won't live very long at all - 7 minutes to be precise. Learn to stop and breathe.
We spend an enormous amount of time doing everything except addressing our health that is until we fall victim to illness. The secret of longevity is maintenance and knowledge, which need to be practiced until it becomes second nature to us.
Let me share a few guidelines for creating wellbeing:
- DRINK 3 litres of water per day.
WATER works, many organs and systems are greatly enhanced by drinking 3 litres of water a day, your pancreas, digestion, insulin, and your mucous membranes all rely upon clean water. Often we confuse thirst for hunger, leading to health complications such as weight problems and dehydration.
To make sure you have enough water for good health drink at least 3 litres per day. The water should be pure, no additions like tea or cordial, and preferably filtered or rainwater. Try to sip regularly and note the glasses you consume until it becomes habit and you naturally want to do this. You will notice health benefits like better digestion, quality insulin and a glow to your skin.
- TAKE 1 hour out of 24 hours to maintain fitness.
Walk, swim, stretch - variety is the key. If you are serious about your health you will be getting aerobic exercise every day. EXERCISE 1 hour out of 24 hours to promote lymphatic activity, powerful blood flow, excellent digestion, glowing skin, dense bones and increased muscle mass. Swim, walk, dance, jog, practice yoga or Pilates it's your choice. To move is to live with VITALITY.
- WORK for a clear and concise mind.
Attain clarity and concise thought patterns, always remember if you think you can you are right, but if you think you can't you are also right. Practice living with a positive attitude, meditate to rest your mind and find what it is you really want in your life. Happily is the only way to live.
Don't neglect your mental health. If you are not happy with where you are in your life and where you are headed do something about it. List your goals and work toward them. Try meditation to reduce stress and take time out to spend time with yourself. Health is holistic, mind and body.
- FOOD - you are what you eat.
Whole and natural, organic fruits, vegetables, salads, sprouts, beans, herbs and grains, these will take up most of your plate. So you can sustain wonderful energy, excellent bowel activity, high vitamin and mineral absorption. Oils and protein make up the remainder of your plate so all cell membranes are elastin and you are always building, repairing and maintaining your cells. Eat a good variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, pulses, grains, seeds, nuts, quality oils and protein.
What you put into your mouth determines your health you need to eat a variety to maintain a high wellbeing always remember nutrition is essential to your health.
- FIND 10 minutes a day for Stretching.
If you want to be quick, nimble and fast to action, what animal might you compare yourself to? When we consider this aspect of health, we might think of a cat. Watch how often a cat stretches. You will benefit in the same way.
There are many different ways you can incorporate stretching into your health regime. You could try yoga or Pilates or even those simple stretches we were taught to do before jogging. Stretching helps your health by lengthening your muscles and moving lymphatic fluid around your body. Lymphatic fluid helps to carry away toxins from your cells, improving health on a cellular level.
